The Beastiverse Primer
The following are a list of the "core concepts" that the Beastiverse story-setting is based on. Soon there'll be a PDF copy of the core concepts available here, but it will just mirror the information here as a download!

It’s the year 202X, and magic is secretly real.
There’s a hidden magical society existing in parallel to the “norm” civilizations of our world. This mystical community is hidden from mundane humanity by a magical barrier called the Sheath.
Many worlds theory reality.
Our Earth is one of many realms existing in an arrangement of worlds called the Polyverse. Some of these realms have very different sexual politics than those of our planet. Trade in goods and ideas between the worlds (those that are aware of each other) is common.
Magical society on Earth is classist, sexist, and generally prejudiced!
Near the bottom of the magical social totem pole are witches (and women in general!), who lack many fundamental human rights. At the rock bottom of society are the therions (“beastmen” like minotaurs, satyrs and centaurs), who are viewed by many as barely more than animals.
(Theriomorphs, who can shift between human and animalistic forms, experience both passing privilege, as well as prejudice and fear for their bestial bodies and the way they can hide among “regular” humans.)
Male human mages hold most of the cultural power — despite their fading magical strength.
A century ago, the majority of Earth’s human warlocks came together to cast a grand ritual to deprive the world’s therions of their magical and sexual powers. The ritual backfired; now, it’s known as the “Unmanning.” In trying to exterminate beastmen, warlocks made themselves an endangered species. Fewer and fewer are born every year. And those that are born are mystically and sexually impotent. Many such warlocks-in-name-only make pacts with mystical forces (even demons!) to replace the powers they lack.
For a thousand years, Therions were slaves to human mages — and their fellow enslaved elves, faeries, giantesses, and many other mystical females were used as therion breeding stock.
In previous centuries, Earth’s human mages used powerful magic to enslave entire species of sentient mythical creatures — especially therions, who were legally and socially viewed as animals and property. Meanwhile, whole populations of females from many magical species were enslaved and used as broodmares to conceive more valuable therion “livestock.” The process of “Leashing” officially ended a century ago. But its legacy and the scars from it persist.
Therions/beastmen are an endangered species, too.
There are no female therions (“beastwomen” don’t exist!). For the therion subspecies to survive, they have to breed with women of other species. Either via persuasion (difficult, because therions are viewed as undesirable sexual parasites), or force (which has painted the entire breed as a bunch of rapists in the public eye).
Every year, a few therion subspecies actually go extinct. Therions as a population have to constantly fight to keep their numbers up, no matter the means.
Magic beasts are all male too, and also need humans or other sentient females to breed with.
The difference between beasts and beastmen is: The taboo of bestiality with non-sentient magical creatures is even worse than the taboo of interspecies sex. …But magic beasts are considered useful in a way that therions haven’t been since they stopped being considered livestock. So magical society has found ways to force women (mostly “criminals”) into breeding a steady supply of beasts. Just don’t go fucking them recreationally, unless you want to serve a criminal sentence on all fours!
Everything rests on the shoulders (and the vadges) of the beastsluts!
There will always be women who’ll fuck and breed with therions, despite the taboo, or even because they get off on the social “wrongness” of the act. …There just aren’t that many women like that. Therions depend on beastsluts (and rape!) for the survival of their species. Likewise, some women will fuck beasts even if they aren’t forced to… though those sluts are even rarer than the therion-fuckers.
As below, so above.
Just like there are beastslut mortals, there are Goddesses of Bestiality, Demon Kings of Beastsex, mixed-species beastslut demigoddesses, corrupted manifestations of holiday joy, Queens of Faerie, therion- and beast-like demons and angels, and feminine anthropomorphic cosmic forces that fuck beasts and beastmen.
…Just not that many of them.

Other Useful (But Not Crucial) Details
- The laws of the magical community are enforced by a violent, corrupt police force called the Justice Bureau. Individual members of the Bureau (Justices) can get away with prejudice and bigotry towards witches, therions and other "undesirables."
- Various magical superheroes exist, operating in the shadows of the "norm" world like the rest of the magical community. They include more flamboyant than usual spellcasters, super-strong Amazon, and many others. Likewise, supervillains — criminals who're considered super-powered, even compared to the average mage — are a persistent threat.
- Gods — extremely powerful spirits that feed off belief/worship — are known to be real in magical society and are worshipped in parts of the community.
